This rainbow puzzle is the gentlest way into floor puzzling. Only 35 chunky pieces, a few shaped like a kite, heart and bird, and a shimmer of foil.

  • Just 35 big pieces, a fair challenge for a three-year-old
  • Some pieces are cut into a kite, a heart and a bird rather than standard shapes
  • Foil accents make the rainbow catch the light
  • Finished size is nearly 3 feet by 2 feet
  • Box has a corded handle, so it goes from playroom to classroom

How it plays at home

Spread the pieces on the rug and let little hands sort by color first. The rainbow bands give clear clues, and the odd-shaped pieces make good landmarks to start with. Thick board holds up to plenty of re-building.

In a classroom it works as a small-group project where children trade pieces and point out where they belong. At home, a grown-up helper can set the border and let the child fill in the colors.

Fun times for 3 year old

This is an awesome puzzle for my 3 year old. I never review things, but this is really is terrific. The shapes of the pieces and the puzzle are unique and thus, it is more interesting for a kid her age, but still a challenge. We’re really enjoying it. Will probably buy another one of these.

Difficult but cute

Very cute but too difficult for my granddaughters. Much more difficult than the usual large piece puzzles.
