Klondice sends the whole family panning for gold with a pile of sparkly dice and a dice tower shaped like a mountain. Each round the mine cart shifts to show new claim targets, so last round's lucky roll does not guarantee anything. It is a nice middle ground between pure luck and real strategy.

How it plays at home

Roll the dice, decide which claims to chase, and keep an eye on how the mine cart is positioned, because it sets the objectives for the round. A few good rolls help, but so does choosing a plan that fits what is on offer. Watch what you leave behind, too: one careless move can hand an opponent exactly what they need.

The rules are plain enough for a second-grader with a helpful adult, and grown-ups still have decisions to make. Pass the banker token around so nobody gets stuck counting gold all night. Tip: for a longer evening, keep a running tally across several rounds.
