Qwirkle Flex keeps what people love about the original and gives longtime fans something new to chew on. Tiles now have a shape in front and a color behind, and you can pivot between matching one or the other as the board evolves.

How it plays at home

The first few turns feel familiar, but the second you realize a tile can link in two directions at once, the planning gets richer. Choosing which attribute to chain, and when to flip to the other, is where you find extra points and block a rival.

It is a nice pick for a household that already owns the original and wants a second flavor. Tip: for the first game, say the matching attribute out loud as you place, so the table stays in sync while everyone learns the new mechanic.

New Game and Added to Game Night

My husband and I love playing board games and it can get boring playing the same ones over and over again. I looked up games an ran across Qwirkle Flex and I was not disappointed. It’s a good quality game with the tiles being made of wood. It did not take us long to learn the jest of it and is a good strategy game without to much difficulty. It is lightweight, so would be great to take on road trips when traveling. I highly recommend!

Great new twist

I got the game yesterday and played today for the first time. It’s very challenging and it takes a bit to get the hang of it, specially adding the diagonal points, but it made for a wonderfully spent afternoon. The tile holders are cardboard and may not last long but who cares, enjoy them while they last or get yourself the proper wooden holders. If you love Quirkle do yourself a favor and buy this edition.
