In Friends and Neighbors, nobody races and nobody loses. Children pull helping tokens from a bag and work out what a worried, chilly or lonely character actually needs. It is one of the few games in the kingdom that works just as well with a single child as with a table full.

  • Made for 1 to 4 players, so a parent and one little one can play on a quiet afternoon
  • Four game boards and 14 tokens, plus a helping bag to draw them from
  • A stop sign board gives the group a pause point to talk before moving on
  • A story book about the neighbors and a parent guide on social and emotional skills come in the box
  • Characters have simple, relatable troubles, like being out in the rain or afraid of the dark

How it plays at home

Each turn, a child reaches into the helping bag, pulls out a token and decides whether it can help one of the characters on the boards. The fun is in the talking: why is that boy scared, and what would make him feel better? Young children often surprise you with how quickly they come up with kind answers.

It suits families who want a calm game that opens up conversations about feelings, and it is easy to use one-on-one at bedtime or in a small circle at school. Read the story book first, and the characters will feel like people your child already knows.
